S510 SCANSNAP/with Windows 8/ UNABLE TO SCAN PROBLEM SOLVED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO.
I googled Error 28, and I found a site: about.com pc web support, TIM FISHER; it stated for error code 28 one should use the device manager.
I had been trying to install a driver via another route. the route I took was as follows for anyone else that may have been having this problem.
Control Panel:/ Device Manager/Imaging Devices/S510 and just follow instructions from there to install drive: NOW EVERYTHING IS OK I would like to state at this stage that I am not sure if this approach on its own at the outset would have solved
the problem, as I have been fooling around with various downloads, deleting and re-insalling etc stuff from the Fujitsu Site:
Thank you for your assistance,
I had the same problem and I fixed it and it is working find on windows 8 and then on windows 8.1 and now I have it working on windows 10, they told me that it cannot work on windows 10 but I got it to work. make sure that you uninstall all the programs
that you have installed on your computer with the software for scansnap s510. then reboot. make sure that your scanner is unplugged from the usb plug not the power plug and keep it unplugged until you finish installing the software. after installing one software
make sure you say not to reboot at this time and then go to the other two and do the same thing until you reach the third software, the order should be the Manager, Optimizer and then the Card, after the last one then go ahead and reboot. when your computer
reboots back again then go ahead and plug in the usb plug to your scanner. it will then start installing the software to the scanner but there will be a problem on Device Manager. when you go to device manager click on the yellow marker next to the scansnap
s510 and then click update the driver. you cannot update the driver through Microsoft because it will give you an error through a third party INF signature problem. so what you are going to do is direct the system to go to another place where you put the drivers
that I have sent you and tell it that this is where you want it to look for it and just click next and let it go. your system will do the rest and your scanner well start working.
go here and download either the last two downloads, the last one is for 64bit software and the second one is for 32bit. please be advise that these are zip files and your computer will not search into zip
files so make sure you have a zip program. like WinRAR it is free. create a file for the zip file and put it into this file and then inside this file, right click on the zip file and tell it to unzip it into this file and everything inside it will be put into
this file, now you are ready to tell windows where to look for the update of these files and when you do it, your system well be working without a problem. I hope this worked out for you, because I have been in your shoes and I hated when everyone in tech
support told me that it cannot be done and I did not stop until I did it myself, if you have any problems and do not understand what I put here for you than just email me at
